‘Sabaragamuwa election is not for Maheepala’

“Election in Sabaragamuwa is not for Maheepala Herath but to show our trust and strength in democracy and tell the world that President Mahinda Rajapaksa is the only leader in this country who destroyed terrorism and upheld the democratic rights of the people in Sri Lanka,” former Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Maheepala Herath said.

He was addressing a press conference at Nipuna Hotel, Kegalle on July 11.

Kegalle district MP Kanaka Herath also attended. Herath said that some people are shouting as to why the elections are held in advance.

They have forgotten how they postponed elections during their rule suppressing the democratic rights of the people.

We are not afraid to hold elections because we are confident we will win the elections overwhelmingly.

At the forthcoming election in Sabaragamuwa the UPFA will get a landslide victory, he said.

The elections results will tell the world that Sri Lankans are firmly marching behind President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the former chief minister said.
