Looking after the environment

The Environment Committee (EC) of Wadduwa Central College conducted an environmental exhibition parallel to World Environment Day at the College main hall recently with the co-operation and participation of E.C. members under the instructions of the teacher-in-charge of Environmental Studies Tharanga Weerasekara.

The Principal of the school Piyaseeli Rodrigo assisted in guiding all the students to take part in the special function which was going on from 8 am to 1.30 pm that day.

The Wildlife Department, the Young Zoologists Association and Dehiwala Zoological Gardens were represented by experienced officers who actively organized this valuable educational exhibition for the benefit of the students and teachers with the idea of imparting knowledge and positive attitudes on how to look after and save the precious environment along with its wildlife.

The President of Eco-Friendly Young Volunteers Association Kanchana Weerakoon better known as ‘Eco-V’, had taken the initiative in conducting this useful task, explained many important facts regarding environment and wildlife, to students in groups while many other teachers were listening to her.
