Yasiru bags karate gold medal

South Asia Junior Karate Tournament 2012 was held recently at
Chennai, India. Ten Asian countries took part in the tourney.

Yasiru Randika Alwis, 13, represented Sri Lanka from the Sri Lanka
Youth Sports Club affiliated to the National Youth Services Council. He
clinched the championship and the gold medal at the 12-13 age category
event.
Yasiru is a student of the seventh year at Herman Myner School at
Kesbewa. He entered the karate sports field in his eighth year. Up to
date Yasiru had secured 24 medals in severl karate tournaments conducted
in Sri Lanka.
Yasiru had won the championship at the Schools Karate Tournaments
consecutively in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Up to date he had secured 24 gold, silver and bronze medals through
karate sport.
He is a junior black belt holder. The President of Sri Lanka Okinawa
Gojiv Karate Do Federation Sensei Ravindra Pushpakumara (4 black belt)
is the coach of Yasiru.
