SAARC needs to boost volume of trade - Prof. Peiris

It is imperative exploring practical avenues to increase the level of trade within SAARC member countries, External Affairs Minister Prof G.L Peiris said. “In the African region, strong steps have been taken to promote intra regional trade within the African region and they have come together and have inked agreements to promote trade among African nations, which had a negative impact on Sri Lankan tea exports into markets that we used to have in the major parts of the Africa continent. This has been the global trade trend through out the world, which we need to take into account seriously,”he said.

JVD France contemplating setting up manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka

One of the worlds leading hotel supply manufactures JVD France is looking at setting up a manufacturing plant in Sri Lanka. Currently JVD France product market share in Sri Lanka is over 50% and when this reaches 75%, the company would look at a manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka JVD France World President Jacques De Vasselot said that Asia is emerging as a global economic giant in the world fuelled by rising tourism industry and this has created many opportunities for them to conduct sustainable businesses in this region.

Randula wins Bronze at Typographic Games

Randula Uvin Gunasena, a student of D.S. Senanayake College, working as a Graphic Designer at TNL Radio Network, won the Bronze Medal at the world graphic design and typographic poster competition held by Arjowiggins Creative Papers of Paris, France, manufacturers of Conqueror, and the global premium paper brand, titled ‘Typographic Games.’ The competition issued a challenge on the theme of sport and on the phrase “It’s not what you win, but how you conquer it.”
