Joes hold Holy Cross to a draw

St Joseph's College, Maradana drew their interschool soccer match with Holy Cross College, Kalutara by 1- 1 at St.Joseph's College grounds on July 12. During the first half both teams battled hard to penetrate each other's defence but failed in their approaches.

Holy Cross College, striker, Eranga Lakshita opened scoring in the 55th minute of the match with a well calculated free kick taken from top of the box. Desperately seeking for the eaquilizer Joes could not convert any of the three corner kicks and two direct free kicks they won within a period of 10 minutes. In the 70th minute of the match Joes skipper Sanjula Kalpa scored through a superb header from well taken corner kick to make the score 1-1. The match has to be called off early due to bad light.
