Dettol explores 'The World Of Mother Care'

Dettol, one of the leading brands of Reckitt Benckiser, a global FMCG household care company that concentrates on Home, Health & Hygiene, launched a series of healthcare seminars for mothers across the island on germ protection and improving household healthcare habits.

The Dettol healthcare seminars are being conducted in over 20 hospitals and maternity clinics island-wide by a team of experienced medical staff including senior nurses and doctors, practicing at the respective hospitals or clinics. The seminar focuses on educating mothers on how to care for a new born infant and provide the baby with protection from germs and infections in the first few months, when a baby's immune system needs extra protection to fully develop.

Head of Marketing Reckitt Benckiser, Tanzim Rezwan said, "The immune system of a newborn is still at a developing stage and unfortunately, this can mean that an infection that may cause nothing more than a sniffle in an older child can be potentially very serious in a newborn. The healthcare seminars were launched by Dettol to especially educate mothers on the importance of maintaining a hygienic environment for a new born baby. Dettol is committed to build a germ-free & healthy Sri Lanka, through our 'Mission for Health'. This year, we hope to reach out to over 10,000 mothers and inculcate proper healthcare habits in households."

The seminars educate mothers on an infant's respiratory and immune system and additionally advices parents on hygiene habits such as washing hands especially before and after holding an infant, maintaining a clean nursery, proper hygienic practices when changing and cleaning an infant, hygienic preparation of baby food and other edibles and precautionary measures when introducing visitors to an infant, among many others habits. This programme will also address and discuss the sensitive world of mother care and the inherent risks of infection with new born infants

All mothers participating in the seminars are further provided with a Dettol Care Kit consisting of the brand's range of disinfectant, first aid and hygiene products.

Dettol, a trusted household brand in Sri Lanka for over 50 years has embarked on many programmes to elevate the health & hygiene practices of the nation in collaboration with like-minded partners and the Ministry of Health. It has been developed after extensive research to include a special formula in soap that provides 24 hours non-stop protection.
