Workshop for journalists on 'Politics and Contemporary Media Use'
A one day workshop on 'Politics and Contemporary Media Use' organized
by the Department of Government Information and Sri Lanka Press Council
for senior journalists who act as managers of media institutions and
media secretaries of ministries will be held at 9 a.m. today at the
Centre for Development Media Auditorium of the Department of Government
Information.
The main objective of this workshop is to develop the knowledge and
skills of media persons.
Senior journalists, including, news writers, feature writers, News
Editors, News Directors of electronic and print media institutions and
media secretaries of ministries will participate at this workshop.
Mass Media and Information Ministry Secretary W.B. Ganegala,
Government Information Department Director General Prof. Ariyaratne
Athugala, Government Information Department Additional Director General
Chandrapala Liyanage, Government Information Director Wasantha Priya
Ramanayake and Sri Lanka Press Council Chairman W. Dayaratne will also
participate at the event.
Two lectures will be conducted on the topics 'Fourth Estate Concept
and the behaviour of the mass media in Sri Lanka' and 'Imperialistic
Media Power and Neo Colonialism' followed by a discussion. |
