Undergraduate programmes directory to be launched
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Human Resource and Education
Sub-committee with LIRNEasia will release a comprehensive Directory of
Undergraduate Programs tomorrow at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber and LIRNEasia joined to compare higher education choices
for students in Sri Lanka. According to the LIRNEasia survey, the higher
education landscape in 2011 consists of at least 46 private

Fire destroys two vehicles

A lorry with a consignment of rice and a tractor parked at a rice
mill at Senanayake Mawatha were reduced to ashes as a result of a fire
that erupted on Sunday night.
The proprietor of the rice mill who lodged a complaint with Tissa
Police said the loss caused by the fire is around Rs. 30 million.
Foundation laying
Foundation laying for a building at Sir Razik Fareed Maha Vidyalaya
at Panapitiya, Karandeniya will be held on June 30 at 9.30 am. The
Moors' Islamic Cultural Home in collaboration with M.T.A. Furkhan
Foundation will construct the building.
AGM
The 92nd AGM of the Ceylon Motor Traders' Association (CMTA) will be
held on June 29 at the Hilton Colombo Residence, Grand Ball Room at 6.30
pm.
Guru Tharuwa at President's College
Jayalath Manorathne's Guru Tharuwa will be staged on June 29 at 3.30
pm and 6.30 pm at the auditorium of President's College, Kotte to raise
funds to uplift infrastructure facilities including indoor sports
complex and open air theatre of the school.
Tagore bronze bust unveiling ceremony
A
bronze bust of Rabindranath Tagore, gifted by the Indian Culture
Ministry, will be unveiled by External Affairs Minister Prof G L Peiris
at the Colombo University main library today.
Indian High Commissioner Ashok K Kantha will also participate. This
will be held to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Nobel
Laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
