Talent at its best at All-Island Schools Sinhala Drama Festival
The All-Island Sinhala Drama festival organised by the Colombo YMBA
based on Jathaka stories is on at the YMBA main hall. Over 50 government
schools and dhamma schools have entered this year’s festival. The
festival organised by the Colombo YMBA is held for the 31st consecutive
year since 1981.
Finals will be held on July 7 at the Borella YMBA main hall. Actress
Iranganie Serasinghe will be the chief guest. A special feature at this
year's finals will be the decision of the Board of Management headed by
President Suren Abeygoonasekara to introduce the Prasanna Goonetilake
Challenge Cup in the name of the past President Prasanna Goonatileke, in
appreciation for his long years of service as an active branch secretary
of the Drama Division to uplift the standard of the All-Island Sinhala
Drama Festival.
Other Challenge Cups introduced this year are ‘Raja Kuruppu Challenge
Cup’ for the most outstanding actor and the ‘Sridath Shri Nandalochana
Memorial Challenge Cup’ for the best actress. |
