'Graduates must contribute to country's development'

Graduates who are newly appointed to the state service must render their service for the development of the country, said Private Transport Services Minister C B Ratnayake.

He was speaking at a meeting of the Sri Lanka Freedom Graduates' Association in Maskeliya at the Breeta's Garden Hotel, Ranjurawa, Ginigathena recently. About 30 graduates recently appointed to the state service from the Maskeliya electorate attended.

Minister Ratnayake said when the graduates are appointed to the state service, the government did not consider for whom they voted.

The government wants all graduates to be involved in the development activities of the country, he said. "As a peaceful situation was created, we want to develop it and make it the Wonder of Asia," he added.

Central Provincial Transport Authority chairman W G Ranasinghe, Maskeliya Sri Lanka Freedom Graduates' Association chairman Padma Madhushankha Perera, N M G Jayantha Ratnasiri and Niranjala Damayanthi also spoke.
