People’s Leasing PLC, Gampaha assists Halugma Junior School

Being a corporate social responsible entity, People’s Leasing have empowered different communities in different areas.

People’s Leasing PLC, Gampaha Branch has taken steps to fulfill many requirements of Halugma Junior School which has over hundred years of history.

There was no drinking water supply for the school before the project and the basic needs of drinking water were taken from the neighboring houses near to schools.

People’s Leasing Gampaha Branch has taken steps to overcome these difficulties of poor students by providing pure drinking water supply system with two water pumps to the school and also donated a CDMA telephone and connection to the school as they did not have any communication facility within the school.

The initial objective of the project was to fulfill a basic need of students by providing hygienic and pure water supply which enhances the healthiness of the poor kids.

A school name board too was provided. Many parents of the school have given their labor free for the campaign. Deputy General Manager, K. M. M. Jabir, Chief Manager, Rohan Thennakoon, Senior Manager, Risk Management, Andy Rathnayake, Gampaha Branch Manager Nandana Weerakkody, and Officer In Charge of Mirigama Branch, Ravindra Dayarathne and Zonal Eduational Director of Mrigama Y.M.C. Pathiraja initiated this CSR project.

Due to this project, today Children at Halugama School were able to overcome those difficulties. After the project, they are able to carry out their educational activities in a best level since they do not wanted to waste their time for bringing water from different places and instead of they can use that time for their education and knowledge improvements activities.
