Marking another milestone in local mobile money technology, Dialog
Axiata on Wednesday launched the country's first Mobile Money Service

The mobile Money Service was launched under the brand name of eZ Cash
and this will enable the 7.5 million dialog customers to maintain a
mobile money account in their mobile phones.
Custodial Banking services for this service will be provided by
Hatton National Bank PLC.
"Mobile Money technology will transform the way we transact cash and
will enable electronic money interchange and electronic payments to be
brought within the reach of every Sri Lankan citizen," Dialog Axiata
Group Chief Executive Officer Hans Wijayasuriya said.
"Customers will be able to pay utility bills or to buy goods and
services online across the shops across the island using their eZ Cash
mobile money account.
Customers without credit card or bank accounts will now have the
opportunity to make electronic transactions through the newly introduced
service and to load cash from 10,000 outlets across Sri Lanka to their 'eZ
Cash' branded mobile account or transfer money from an internet banking
account and each electronic transaction has been protected through a
Personal Identification Number (PIN), Dialog's e-commerce Service Head
