Third suspect surrenders

The third and most wanted suspect in the foiled Battaramulla bank robbery case, surrendered to Thalangama Police through a lawyer yesterday. The suspect, an Army deserter aged 23, was identified as a resident of Subuthipura, Battaramulla. He had told Police he attempted to rob the bank to find money for gambling.

Suspect escapes from police custody, ‘commits suicide’

A suspect arrested for the theft of jewellery, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Kelani river on Wednesday. The suspect was arrested by Nawagamuwa Police on Tuesday night. The Police had taken him in a three wheeler to his house after questioning him at the police station.
