Govt exploiting sustainable alternatives for power generation -Bathiudeen

“With the current growth rate in power, the government is looking into sustainable alternatives for power generation,” said Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce.

The 8th Power Sri Lanka 2012 International Expo acts as an optional pathway that the government seeks with local and international ideas on power generation, transmission, energy and renewable energy that are on display. The expo was opened yesterday and will continue on until the June 16 from 10 am to 6.30pm at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC).

Sri Lanka is emerging as a global entity making it crucial for domestic industries to venture into different avenues which range from batteries, generators to hydro power. “This will give not only Sri Lankans in the corporate sector but also individuals an opportunity to re-look their thoughts on how to move forward in this lucrative sector,” said Murali Prakesh, CEO and Group Managing Director of Brown and Company PLC. With over 20 exhibitors including; Abans Electricals PLC, Gustav Hensel GMBH CO and Shenzhen Jingfuyuan Tech CO LTD various outlooks can be brought to the attention of Sri Lankans and also give those participating in the expo, global recognition through the visiting trade delegates and business people.

“This is one of the events that will lead Sri Lanka into a bright future and with the emphasis on power at the moment, it is timely to look at new sources,” said Nihal Rupasinghe, Chairman of the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB).
