TV banking for UB customers

Union Bank and SLT PEO TV entered in to a partnership in providing TV banking for the first time for the Union Bank customers in the country.

The launch of banking service for Union Bank customers using TV as an interface marks a revolutionary breakthrough where Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) technology too was introduced by SLT PEO TV. The facility will provide additional capabilities to further functionality capacity and change the way we do banking. SLT, the flagship telecom provider and initiative by the PEO TV which provides a host of services turns a new page in the TV industry.

Sri Lanka Telecom has turned a new leaf in the Pay Television industry with PEO TV and its unique features. With this pioneering initiative, banking services will be revolutionized adding value to banks and their customers.

SLT’s plan to increase the PEO TV subscriber base by end 2012 with “i Sri Lanka” which has already demonstrated significant success, SLT CEO Greg Young said. The fixed line network is going through significant transformation and this fiber infrastructure development will negate the current broad band restriction allowing each Magaline household to access up to 20 MBPS bandwidth and bring this revolutionary service to our fixed Megaline customers, he said.

“The interactive TV experience will take the customers to the next level and we are ready to unleash more futuristic services,” SLT PEO TV and SLT Rainbow Pages CEO Malraj Balapitiya said.

We will not restrict ourselves to provide channels and infotainment content, but will continue to be the ‘first to offer the best’ to customer’s home TV screen. The TV banking is the first of its kind land mark product to enable access to banking facilities through TV. The Union Bank to differentiate from the rest in the banking sector with this novel banking portal that facilitates online banking services, he said.

Union Bank the pioneers in the Information Technology led banking industry by introducing internet banking to the country has gone beyond with this service. The facility was researched, developed and tested by local talents, Union Bank of Colombo PLC Director/ CEO Anil Amarasuriya said.

“We are proud to have been the pioneering partner in this groundbreaking initiative. This service offer customers unmatched convenience and we anticipate that it will prove to be extremely popular.
