Rajans six-a-side cricket champions

Dharmaraja College, Kandy became Champions beating Dharmashoka Ambalangoda in the cup finals, at the Six-a-side Cricket tournament organized by the Dharmaraja College Sports Council which was held at the Lake View Grounds from 1st to 3rd of June, 2012 in connection with the 125th Anniversary of Dharmaraja College, Kandy under the patronage of Chapa Weeraratne, a distinguished Old Boy of the School, and the Guest of honour, K.M.R. Kulatunge, the President of the Dharmaraja College Old Boys Union.

The Plate Trophy was won by St. Aloysius, Ratnapura beating Anuradhapura Central. The Chief Guest at the Opening Ceremony was Vipula Ranasinghe, President of the Dharmaraja College Cricket Foundation.

The Principal of the School S.M. Keerthiratne received the guests and the welcome speech was delivered by Lt. Col. Sarath Abeygunasekera, the Prefect of Games, Dharmaraja College.

The following teams particpated at this three day colourful evnet.

Dharmaraja College “A” & “B” Teams, Kingswood and Vidyartha, all from Kandy, Poramadulla Central, St. Patrick, Jaffna, St. Aloysius, Ratnapura, Anuradhapura Central, Maliyadewa, Kuruengala, Dharmashoka, Ambalangoda, Zahira, Colombo.

Deneth Lanka of Dharmaraja College who was adjudged the
Most Valuable player receiving the cash award from the
Chief Guest Chapa Weeraratne.

Dharmaraja beat Dharmashoka, Ambalangoda.

Dharmashoka 47 for 5 in 4.05 overs. (Thanura Halabage 19 Adeesha Thilanchana 16, Deneth Lanka 2 for 10, Aravinda Withanachchi 2 for 9).

Dharmaraja 49 for 2 in 4.02 overs.(Ramesh Ranasinghe 11, Deneth Lanka 11, Jayapadma Tennakoon 12 not out.

Anuradhapura Central (Sandeepa Nisansala 12, Jagath Rajapakshe 12 Lakshitha Prabath 2 for 7)

Best batsman of the tournament: Thanura Halabage-Dharmashoka, Ambalangoda

Best Bowler: Deneth Lanka – Dharmaraja College, Kandy

Most Valuable player of the tournament: Deneth Lanka of Dharmaraja College, Kandy.
