Hard work brought us success - Dulaj and Nimesha

Hard work and dedication paved the way for a silver medal for me,
said Nimesha Madushani Siriwardana (Galenbindunu wewa Central College )
after winning the silver medal in the women’s high jump in the 15th
Asian Junior Athletic Championship in Colombo yesterday.
Addressing the media after the event, Nimesha further said that she
would perform well with a good pair of spikes which has been a long felt
need for her. “I thank my parents, principal coach and all students of
my school who are also responsible for my victory. I started in 2004 and
since then my coach Nishantha Herath has been with me to support me with
all his guidance,” she said.
She also thanked phonex and Janashakthi for helping her. Her coach
Nishantha Herath said that Nimesha could go far and seek assistance to
brighten her future. It is really difficult for us to come to Colombo
from Galenbidunuwewa which is around 7 hour journey, but we managed
somehow he added.
Men’s 400 metres gold medalist Dulaj Madusanda (Pasyala Central
College) said that having recorded the best timing among all others in
the heats on Saturday he wanted to do better in the finals. I did not
give up until the end he added. Dulaj further said that sports equipment
including spikes are a much felt need in his sports life. His coach
Chandana Amarasinghe was also present. |
