OIC, 16 others of Imaduva Police transferred

Seventeen police officers including the OIC of Imaduva Police in Galle are transferred to the Galle Police Headquarters with immediate effect on the orders of Southern Province DIG Hector Dharmasiri.

Sources said among the other officers transferred are a Sub Inspector, six Police Sergeants, two Women Police Sergeants, five Police Constables and one Service Support Officer. They have been replaced by new officials.

When questioned about the urgency for these transfers and allegations of political influence triggering the instantaneous transfers, Galle SSP Vaas Gunawardane denied any political interference in the transfers. He said all were routine transfers.
