The Criminal Investigation Department yesterday arrested two suspects
allegedly involved in the murder of cricketer Eswardasan Ketheeswaran in
Trincomalee.
Ketheeswaran had been hacked to death at Iyyarnarkoni Street in
Trincomalee on April 18.
The suspects confessed they committed the murder on a contract
entered into with the victim’s wife, to pay them Sterling pounds 1750
for the performance of the deed.
The Police revealed that one of the suspects is alleged to be a pilot
who had an extramarital relationship with the victim’s wife domiciled in
UK.
The pilot revealed to the police that the victim’s wife offered him
the contract, having built a relationship with him.
The investigators were on the trail of the suspects based on
scientific evidence, as the murder was committed in a subtle way so as
to leave no clue, Deputy Director General of CID, Jayantha Kulathilake
said.
The victim’s wife is to be arrested through Interpol and red notice
will be issued on her soon, he said.
The Tamil Diaspora accused the Security Forces and the Police of the
murder. The CID is conducting investigations.
