SL’s first speed rail

Airport Express Air and Rail Company (Pvt) Ltd which is building Sri
Lank’s first speed rail into Katunayake Bandaranaike International
Airport is looking to expanding it to Galle.
Chairman Dr. P.I. Michael from Malaysia said they hope to build this
adjoining the Colombo-Galle highway.
The project is expected to be completed in two years.
British HC aids language teaching

British High Commissioner John Ranking with Council for Business with
Britain (CBB) Chairman Nick Nikolaou, ELT Project manager Dr. Lesley
Dick and British High Commission Country Director Tony Reilly made a
progress review tour on Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) programme of the
Cambridge University conducted by the Galle Regional English Support
Centre (RESC) in Baddegama.
The programme was organised by the British Council.
Dhawala Hasthi at John de Silva Theatre
Dhawala Hasthi, the drama produced by Devika Wijayagunasekara will be
staged at John de Silva Theatre on June 12.
The10.30 am show will be for schoolchildren and the 6pm show will be
for others.
The drama is based on the Saddantha Jathaka story, which has been
recommended in the syllabus for Sinhala GCE A/L.
The drama features Indrajith Pathirana, Sampath Ukwattage, Sumudika
Ukwattage and Ajith Nanayakkara among others in the cast.
Music direction is by Sathyapala Master of Handapangoda.
Memorial Oration
Prof. Kusuma Karunaratne will deliver the Deshamanya Dr.P R Anthonis
Memorial Oration 2012 at the Sasakawa Memorial Cultural Centre
Auditorium , Colombo 3 on June 16 at 7 pm on the theme " Role of the
Creative Writer in the development of social values".The Memorial
Oration has been organised by the JICA Alumni Association of Sri Lanka.
LST Forum
Prof. Fiona Kumari Campbell, Griffith Law School, Australia and
Dinesha Somaratne, University of Colombo will speak on "Disability
rights -Why it concerns everybody?" at the LST Forum on June 12 at 4 pm
at No. 3, Kynsey Terrace, Borella.
Public talk
Dr. Kosala de Silva will deliver a public lecture, 'From Sensual
Pleasure to Liberation' at the meeting of the Servants of the Buddha
Society on June 9 at Maithree Hall, Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya.
Media Day
Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo will celebrate Media Day with
'Induwara Asna 2012' on June 7 at the school auditorium at 2.30 pm.
The chief guest will be ITN chairman Rosmund Senaratne.
Isipathana prize giving
The Isipathana College Prize Giving ceremony will be held at the John
de Silva Theatre tomorrow.
Colombo University Vice Chancellor Senior Prof Kshanika Hirimburegama
will be the chief guest. Outstanding students from grade 6 to GCE
Advanced Level and those entered the faculties of Engineering, Medicine,
Management based on last GCE AL results will receive special awards.
