Model farm revives palmyrah industry

Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda recently opened an office for the Palmyrah Development Board in Puliyankulam, Vavuniya.

A backhoe machine valued at over Rs. 5.5 million has been provided to the model Palmyrah farm set up in this block of land belonging to the Palmyra Development Board which is over 20 acres in extent.

The minister planted palmyrah seedlings and and other types of plants indigenous to the area.
