Deduru Oya project to be completed soon

The Deduru Oya multifunctional irrigation project, being constructed for the benefit of people in Sath Korale, will be completed soon, said project director W A A S Perera.

He said so during an inspection tour with several high ranking officials in the ministry and parliamentarians in the North Western Province.

Under this project, 20,000 acres of paddy lands will be cultivated. Such a large area is being cultivated for the first time after King Parakramabahu's period, he said.

Ninety percent of the work is completed and it is possible to provide drinking water to around 50,000 families, he said.
