Education Ministry Secretary H. M. Gunasekera, officials from the
ministry, KOICA Resident Representative Cho Sang-Woo, Prof Cho Il Yeon
and KOICA staff participated.
Prof Cho arrived in Sri Lanka in December 2010 as a part of the World
Friends Advisor (WFA) programme under the KOICA technical cooperation
activities and has since been providing consultation in the field of
primary education to the Education Ministry by sharing his accumulated
experiences as an educator and a manager of primary schools in Korea.
As a final outcome of his year and half long assignment, this guide
book was designed to help principals of primary schools in Sri Lanka
build capacities to overcome existing challenges and establish
successful examples of school planning for sustainable development.
In addition, this guide book will contribute to facilitating 1,000
full-fledged secondary schools development programme easing the
congestion at popular schools in urban areas and expanding the modern
education system to remote parts of the country.
Furthermore, during his stay in Sri Lanka, he has played a
significant role in promoting Korea - Sri Lanka partnership in the area
of education by coordinating with the Korean authority to facilitate the
Education Minister to visit Korea in October 2011 and to introduce
baseball as a sport at school level in Sri Lanka. |
