Fisheries is the main industry in the North and therefore we hope to
provide another tabloid on fisheries in collaboration with the
Thinakaran, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne. Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic
Resources said.

The minister was addressing the ceremony marking the first year of
the Oruwella tabloid issued with the Dinamina at Lake House premises
yesterday.
“Recently, we commemorated the first anniverary of the only radio
channel in the world for the fisheries community, “Sayura”FM. Now we are
commemorating the first anniversary of the tabloid paper Oruwella,’ he
said.
‘Lake House can boast of a number of veteran journalists. The
institution is providing its best services to the public. Lake House
Chairman,veteran journalist Bandula Padmakumara is also a very good and
one of the most talented artistes in the country. “While we were
schooling together, he is the person who taught me about Arts.
As a schoolboy, he provided his service and expertise in the
production of the film Nimwalala as Assistance Director, “he said.
“Therefore, at percent, every Lake House publication can boast of
excellent quality than in earlier times. Lake House is a historical
institution. ‘It is a great honour to participate in such events in
this venue,” he said.
Lake House Director Editorial Seelaratna Senarath said it is a
pleasure to provide such a tabloid to readers as an eight page
supplement. ‘As a first step, we commenced ‘Oruwella’ as a single page
supplement.
“Now the ‘Oruwella’ has been developed. This contribution to the
public by the ministry is very important,” he said. “Present President
Mahinda Rajapaksa when he was Fisheries Minister did his utmost for the
fisheries sector. The present Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Minister
Rajitha Senarathna is also doing his best as a very creative minister,
“he said.
“Lake House presently publishes over 18 publications in Sinhala.
Chairman Bandula Padmakumara leads Lake House in providing information
to every reader,” he said. Managing Editor Samantha Karunasekera and
Oruwella Editor Buddika Imbulana were also felicitated.
Dinamina Editor Gamini Jayalath and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources
Ministry Media Secretary Narendra Rajapaksha also spoke. Daily News
Chief Editor Lynn Ockersz and Thinakaran Chief Editor S Thillainthan
