Leoni Van Ash, 32, a Sri Lankan adopted by an Australian couple in
Sydney during her childhood, has arrived in Sri Lanka with her husband
and two children to trace her legal Sri Lankan parents.
Leoni says her original Sri Lankan name was Priyani Jayawardena as
she could faintly remember.
She had been handed over to a children’s home in Kandy when she was
three years after being abandoned by her parents.
Later, an Australian tourist couple visiting Sri Lanka had taken
charge of her for adoption and taken her with them to Australia.
However, the Australian foster parents had later handed her over to a
child care institution in Australia for care when she was about 13.
There she met her partner and married him when she was 20 years. They
now have two children and she is anxious to trace her legal Sri Lankan
parents.
She is even prepared to reward anyone who could help her to fulfill
her dream by tracing her parents.
