CINEC maritime campus

Providing excellence in higher education:

Sri Lankas largest private institute of higher education, the Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College (CINEC) Campus, opened its newest branch in Colombo recently.

The "CINEC City Campus" situated in Colombo 04, is focused on providing educational services for students who are living in Colombo.

The opportunity is also available for those who are employed in HND and Diploma Programmes in Logistics and Transportation. As with all branches of CINEC, this facility in Colombo is provided with the modern classrooms and facilities, CINEC Campus Business Development Manager Himal Warakagoda told Daily News Business.

Established in 1990, CINEC Campus is located in a quiet picturesque suburb, approximately one kilometre from Malabe towards Kaduwela; not too far away from Sri Lanka's administrative capital, Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte. Situated in a serene environment, overlooking an irrigation canal and paddy fields, CINEC has, over the past two decades, established itself as the prestigious option for those who desire a career in the fields of Maritime, Engineering, Logistics, Management and IT. Providing world class excellence in education and training, CINEC Campus caters to over 14,000 students annually, who follow a range of over 175 study and training programmes.

CINEC Campus is accredited to ISO 9001: 2008 Quality Management System, ISO 14001: 2004 Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001:1999 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, and DNV Standard for Certification No. 3.401 for Maritime Academies (2004) and the "5S" Concepts concurrently.

The Campus has the distinction of being the first and the only Educational Institution to be bestowed with the prestigious National Quality Award for 3 consecutive terms in 1999, 2004 and 2009, topping it with the Asia Pacific Quality Award for 'best in class' education category.

Offering internationally recognized degree programmes in affiliation with foreign universities in Australia, UK, USA and China, CINEC campus gives opportunities to Sri Lankan students who wish to pursue quality higher education at an affordable cost, in the fields of Maritime studies, Engineering, Technology, Sports and Leisure, Hospitality, Management and IT, starting from Certificate Level and going up to Bachelor's, Masters and Doctoral Degrees which are presently most sought after.

Over the past 3 years, CINEC has branched out to cater to students in the Northern and North Eastern provinces, before adding the Colombo City Campus to its growing list. CINEC Jaffna Campus, situated at KKS Road, Maruthanamadam Jaffna, which was established in 2010, provides education for students in English for Higher Studies, along with Welding, Electrical and HND Programmes. These selected courses are aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of local students with a view of providing job opportunities.

CINEC Trinco campus, located at Kandy Road, Trincomalee, in the heart of the Trincomalee town, caters to students living in the Eastern Province, providing higher education by way of HND Programmes, and Industrial and Management degrees.

Students and parents are most welcome to visit the CINEC campus at Millennium Drive, IT Park, Malabe, or any branch, to see for themselves the facilities available and obtain further information on the study programmes offered.

CINEC is the place for students looking for cost effective, top quality, higher education, Warakagoda said. (SJ)
