Schools’ under-20 Singer League rugby:
Trinity edge out Isipathana 23-20
Trinity College, Kandy beat Isipathana College,
Colombo by 23 points to 20 after stiff contest in their under-20
Singer League segment-I ‘A’ division match, worked off at the CR and
FC grounds, Longden Place yesterday. Trinity score consisted of a
goal, two tries and two penalties while Isipathana tally comprised a
try and five penalties. Winger Lochana Girihagama, flanker Randika
Alwis and full back Sanchana Shiek scored a try each with center
Thisila Karunatilleke put over two penalties and the conversion for
the winners. Pathanian winger Isanga Panchama scored the only try
for the losers with fly half Hirantha Perera fired across their all
five penalties.

Rajans thrash Sylvestrians 71-26
A second half blitz by Dharmaraja College saw
them notch up an easy 71 points (8 goals, 3 tries) to 26 (1 goal, 2
tries, 3 penalties) win over St Sylvester’s College in their schools
Under-19 Division One Segment ‘B’ Singer Shield Rugby Tournament
match played at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium, Kandy yesterday. At
half time, Rajans led 24-19.

West Indies 265-6 against England at tea
West Indies were 265 for six in their second
innings, a lead of 110 runs, at tea on the fourth day of the first
Test against England at Lord’s here on Sunday. Denesh Ramdin was 23
not out and West Indies captain Darren Sammy four not out.

the Singer League ‘B’ division rugby trophy and President's trophy
