Ranaviru Seva Authority Act to be amended
The Cabinet decided to amend paragraphs (b), (c) and (d) of Sub
Section (2)(1) of the Ranaviru Seva Authority Act No 54 of 1999 to
include the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Chief of Staff of the
Sri Lanka Navy and the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force
respectively, in its Board of Management on a proposal made by the
President as Defence and Urban Development Minister.
The Ranaviru Seva Authority was established in 1999 to provide
welfare facilities to differently-abled persons and deceased or
disappeared personnel of the three Forces and the Police while engaged
in operational activities.
Block of land at Nawala for Ruwanweli Maha Seya Temple, Anuradhapura.
The Cabinet approved to provide a block of land at Nawala to
construct a building to accommodate theras of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya
Temple at Anuradhapura on a proposal by the President as Defence and
Urban Development Minister.
New buildings for five District Labour Offices
Labour and Labour Relations Minister Gamini Lokuge's proposal to
construct five District Labour Offices in Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi,
Negombo, Beliatta and Avissawella at a cost of Rs 199.62 million was
approved by the Cabinet.
The Rs 199.62 million allocation will be made under the Medium Term
Budgetary Framework in three stages.
Trainees on electrical work for apprentice training at CEB
Trainees undergoing theoretical training on electrical work in
institutions under the purview of the Youth Affairs and Skills
Development Ministry will be sent for apprentice training at the Ceylon
Electricity Board (CEB).
It has been proposed to commence a one year course on electricity at
selected centres of the Vocational Training Institutions under the Youth
Affairs and Skills Development Ministry for GCE O-L qualified youths in
Sinhala and Tamil mediums.
GCE O- L qualified youths between the ages of 18 and 30 will be
recruited for the training course and paid Rs 600 , Rs 700 and Rs 750
per day in the first, second and third years while they undergo
practical training at the CEB.
Cabinet approved the joint proposal made by Power and Energy Minister
Patali Champika Ranawaka and Youth Affairs and Skills Development
Minister Dullas Alahapperuma to proceed with the project.
Rs 4.4 b to rehabilitate three highways in North Western Province
Cabinet approval was granted to rehabilitate 38 kms on the BO45
highway from Bangadeniya- Andigama-Anamaduwa, 11.28 kms on the B 356
road from Pannala- Kuliyapitiya and 15.69 kms on B243 highway of
Kuliyapitya - Hettipola road with concrete surfacing through domestic
contractors on a proposal by the President as Ports and Highways
Minister.
Cabinet approved Rs 4.4 billion on a loan to be provided by Bank of
Ceylon for rehabilitation and improvement of these roads.
Bibile- Inginiyagala road to be developed at Rs 4.6 b
Cabinet approved a proposal by the President to rehabilitate B 527
road in Bibile - Pitakumbura - Namaloya - Inginiyagala Road for 60.310
kms at a cost of Rs 4.6 billion.
US $ 3.5 m ADB assistance for rural household electricity connection
Selection of Financial Service Provider for the Rural Household
Connection Project under the ADB loan: L2519-SRI - Clean Energy Access
Project
A project to facilitate electricity to poor households, initially in
Hambantota, Ratnapura and Ampara districts are in progress with US $ 3.5
million ADB assistance.
The proposed Rural Household Connection Project intends to improve
operational and financial efficiency in rural electrification and expand
coverage of rural electrification.
Cabinet approved a proposal by Power and Energy Minister Patali
Champika Ranawaka to authorise the SANASA Development Bank to operate as
the Financial Service Provider for this project. |
