Vesak celebrated in Jaffna

All arrangements have been made by the security forces along with the citizens of Jaffna, to celebrate the Vesak festival on a grand scale.

Accordinglly, they have built 20 pandals and vast number of attractive Vesak lanterns in front of the Jaffna Library and near the Duraiappa grounds. The Sri Lanka Army has decided to introduce that area as a Vesak Zone and the Jaffna University has made arrangements to hold a biscuit and ice-cream dansal, today.

The Vesak Zone had been established with the guidance of Jaffna Security Forces Commander Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe and Major Ranjith Mallawaarachchi. The Buddhist Association of the Jaffna University had provided their support to organize the event.

Northern Province Governor, Major General G.A. Chandrasiri will declare open the pandals in the heart of Jaffna city.
