‘Respect Buddhist flag’
Priyanka KURUGALA
People need to learn how to respect the Buddhist flag, said Buddhist
Cultural Centre Director Kirama Wimalajothi Thera.
Vesak is the most appropriate day to remember the importance of
Buddhist symbols, such as, Buddhist flag, Dhamma Chakra and national
flag, the thera said. “Many young groups use the Buddhist flag as a
common dress.
“They wrap the flag around their bodies while organising dansels and
other events to mark the Vesak Full Moon Poya day,” the thera said.
“They are using the flag to stop vehicles at dansels. Such actions
should be stopped,” the thera said. |
