Sambuddhathva Jayanthi Committee presents plan to President

The 2,600th Sambuddhathva Jayanthi steering committee has presented a 10-year-plan to President Mahinda Rajapaksa which consists of four sectors to build ethical values in the country.

This 10-year-plan will be activated from Vesak Full Moon Poya 2012. The four main sectors are how to develop the Buddha Sasanaya, how to develop ethics in people, Dhamma education and media contribution for building a disciplined society.

Sambuddhathva Jayanthi steering committee member Most Ven Diviyagaha Yasassi Thera told the Daily News under the title 'how to develop the Buddha Sasanaya,' eight main subjects will be discussed.

Five sectors will be discussed under the title 'How to develop ethics in people,'

three sectors under the title of Dhamma education and two main sectors on the contribution of the media to the committee.

The Thera emphasized that the contribution of the media is very important to build up a moral country. Therefore, the Buddhsasana and Religious Affairs Ministry, the Media Ministry with the participation of the Cultural and Arts Affairs Ministry will launch these programmes.
