Diethelm Travel Sri Lanka, a subsidiary of Hemas Holdings PLC in
collaboration with FTI group, one of Germany’s leading tour operators
will launch cruises between Sri Lanka and Dubai with stops in Muscat,
Mumbai, Goa and Kochi in the coming winter season carrying 4,000 up
market French speaking travellers mainly from Austria, Switzerland and
Germany over a period of four month staring from December 05, 2012.
The FTI BERLIN will be the first ever cruise liner of its kind to
sail Colombo Port on regular basis and will call at and depart Colombo
10 times between December 2012 and March 2013.The passengers will have
the opportunity to take a holiday in Dubai or Colombo, spending
additional holidays in Sri Lanka on the beaches or on round trips,before
or after the 10-day cruise.
Diethelm Travel Sri Lanka Chairman Abbas Esufally said this will be a
unique project which will bring in high spending clientele to Sri Lanka
and this will act as a viable springboard to showcase Sri Lanka as a
multifaceted and internationally attractive destination.
Germany’s FTI Touristik Director Operations Lal Wijesinghe said that
FTI is looking at possibilities to berth in Trincomalee port or the
newly built Hambantota Port in the future thereby giving the project a
great dimension and taking it to a different level. |
