Woman throws away new-born twin

A woman who separately gave birth to twin girls threw one of them into her backyard while delivering the other at the Balangoda Hospital. The first child died instantly while the other died at delivery. Police said investigations revealed that the woman, a resident of Diyawinna , Balangoda, had given birth to a girl at her home and had thrown the infant into the back yard of the house.

She was later admitted to Kaltota Hospital and was transferred to Balangoda Hospital due to severe bleeding. The woman gave birth to the second girl at Balangoda Hospital where the second infant also died.

Doctors have confirmed that the woman gave birth to premature twins.

The woman is receiving treatment at Balangoda Hospital. The infants’ bodies are lying at the Balangoda Hospital morgue.

Balangoda Police are investigating.
