Police nab chain snatchers at Peliyagoda

Peliyagoda Police have arrested six suspects on charges of theft during a raid conducted at Dikkowita on April 25. Six gold chains had been recovered from their possession. The Peliyagoda Crime Investigations Unit yesterday said the suspects had been involved in a series of chain snatching incidents in Kandana, Wattala and Kadawatha areas.

Changes at Police Dept

The Police Department has transferred 22 police officers including Senior Superintendents of Police (SSP), Superintendents of Police (SP) and Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) with immediate effect, to meet service requirements, on the instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) N K Illangakoon.

Navy takes prompt action to save fishermen

Sri Lanka Navy rescued three fishermen from a fishing vessel named Wallam which had wedged itself in rocks near the Rocky Point in Trincomalee on the night of April 23. The Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command rescued the fishermen.
