Changes at Police Dept

The Police Department has transferred 22 police officers including Senior Superintendents of Police (SSP), Superintendents of Police (SP) and Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) with immediate effect, to meet service requirements, on the instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) N K Illangakoon.

Six SSPs, five SPs and 11 ASPs have been transferred as follows:

SSP B M Dole as director of Police Medical Service from the Police Field Force Headquarters in Colombo; Police Medical Service director SSP L N Francis as Discipline,Conduct and Acting Director of the Police Legal Division; SSP J C K Nanayakkara as director of Police Narcotic Bureau from the Supervision Division; SSP for Kurunegala Police Division A P G D Gunawardena as SSP for the Galle Police Division; Police Civil Engineering Division Director SSP G S Walgama as director of IGP Commanding Centre; and Acting Director of Police College in Kundasale as Director of Child and Women’s Bureau.

IGP Commanding Centre Director SP L H P Cooray has been transferred to the Badulla Police Division while Child and Women’s Bureau Director SP R F C de Silva has been transferred to the Kurunegala Police Division.

Police Officer-in-Charge of the Galle Police Division SP S C Widanapathirana has been appointed as Personal Assistant of Matara and Galle DIG; SP S A D M P Gunasekara has been transferred to the Vavuniya Police Division from the Police Field Force Headquarters and SP H K D W M P B Rathnathilake as Personal Assistant of the Colombo DIG.

ASP K D L A Dharmasena has been transferred to the Kegalle district from the Police College in Kundasale; ASP M A R Pemarathne to the Special Investigation Unit from the Motor Traffic Division in Mt Lavinia; ASP K M Sandasiri to the Gampaha Police Division from Vavuniya; ASP J P D Jayasinghe to the Mt Lavinia Motor Traffic Division from Gampaha Police Division and ASP G M Somarathne to Vavuniya Division Police Training College in Kalutara.

ASP P A S de Silva has been transferred to the Trincomalee division from the Motor Traffic Headquarters; ASP R P A B Gunathilake to the Matara division from the Trincomalee division, ASP M A A S Jayathilake to the Building Division in Police Headquarters from the Matara Police division, ASP T D L R Asan as Deputy Director of Kundasale Police College from Elpitiya Division; ASP S A A Samarasekara to the Elpitiya division from Mannar; and ASP W R L K to the Police Field Force Headquarters from Anuradhapura division.

Six SPs have been promoted to Grade One SP post on the instruction of IGP Illangakoon from March 5, 2012. They are SP R L Kodituwakku, Mounted Police Division, W K N de Silva, National Intelligence Bureau, SP W A S Priyantha, Director (Supply), Police Headquarters, SP M D R S Daminda, President’s Security Division, SP P P S M Dharmarathne , Colombo (South) Division and SP W K Jayalath, Recruitment Division have been promoted as Grade One SP s.
