Trishaw driver transporting 14 students nabbed

A man transporting 14 students in a three - wheeler was arrested by Hasalaka Police at Keenagaspitiya on Tuesday. The driver was operating the three - wheeler as a school transport service, Police said.

Students travelling in the three-wheeler were aged between five and 13.

The man was released on police bail. A case will be filed against him in the Mahiyangana magistrate’s court on April 30.

The Police Public Relations Unit said this incident highlights negligence over children’s safety. The Police urged the public to be vigilant of school services and vehicles.
