Construction Expo in June

The Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB) and Lanka Exhibition
Conference Services (LECS) have partnered up in a venture that will
create Sri Lanka as a key meeting point to all major players in the
construction industry. The press conference held on April 24 confirmed
that the two organizations would be conducting an exhibition which will
showcase the best in construction to date at a local and international
level. This will be known as 'Construction Expo 2012; Sri Lanka's
Premier Construction Supplies, Equipment, Machinery and Technology
Exhibition' and will be held on June 29, 30 and July 1 at the BMICH from
10am to 9pm.
"We envision to become South Asia's largest construction event and in
doing so open a new paradigm for investors and entrepreneurs" said
President of CIOB, Dr Rohan Karunaratne. The expo will provide
exhibitors and visitors with exposure to the latest technology in
design, equipment and other spheres that are related to the industry. As
Sri Lanka is considered to be a hub in ports, it furthers the idea of
the infrastructural boom that the nation is currently experiencing.
From this,they will also be able to establish a higher profile in the
market with the organizers' plans to endeavour on numerous promotional
campaigns aimed at investors and entrepreneurs.
This is said to be Sri Lanka's largest construction event to date and
there are plans to add new techniques that will attract international
visitors to the expo. A key idea that has been implemented is the three
day symposium where ideas and technology related to the industry will be
shown in a modern and innovative manner.
The participants will also be given the chance to engage in these
latest trends, developments and technologies.
"By thinking outside the box, we will gain an immense amount of
exposure outside of Sri Lanka" said Chairman of True Value Products Pvt
Ltd, Mohamed Fayaz. Construction Expo 2012 will include exclusive
international pavilions by India and Australia and will also have the
participation of countries such as Japan, Singapore, China, Korea, New
Zealand and Italy. However, more players are showing an interest locally
and internationally which are being accepted by the organizers.
At the moment, 300 companies are involved in the event with 24
countries showing curiosity and 46 wanting to visit.
