South Korea to open its markets to Sri Lanka
The current bilateral trade levels between Sri
Lanka and Korea are set to grow strongly as doors to the huge South
Korean markets are likely to be opened for Sri Lanka soon. Sri Lanka
will also be taking part at the South Korea's international ‘EXPO
2012 Yoesu’ commencing from May 12.
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) yesterday opened its state
of the art pharmaceutical (Panadol) manufacturing facility with an
investment of Rs 217 million, and would probably be one of the
single largest investments in Sri Lankan pharmaceutical industry.
Fitch rates Sampath Leasing at ‘A(lka)’; Outlook positive
Fitch Ratings Lanka has assigned Sampath Leasing
and Factoring Limited (SLFL) a ‘A(lka)’ National Long-Term rating.
The outlook is positive. The rating reflects Fitch’s expectation of
continuous support from SLFL’s parent - Sampath Bank PLC (SB,
‘AA-(lka)’/Positive,
Passenger cruiser
Costa Victoria called over at the Colombo Port yesterday
making her first voyage to the Colombo harbour along
with 2,680 passengers and 897 crew members. Hundreds of
tourists who arrived in Costa Victoria visited many
tourist destinations including Kandy, Elephant Orphanage
at Pinnawala, Galle and Hikkaduwa. Costa Victoria,
the luxury and modern passenger vessel is 292.5 meters
in length and 35.5 meters in width. The ship can sail at
a speed of 24 knots per hour. It has been built in 2003.
