Pavithra, 25, a rehabilitated ex-
LTTE cadre is now a successful entrepreneur in her own
right. She today earns a good income by selling fruits such
as papaw and plantains, a far cry from the days when she was
holding a gun and living under the ever present danger of
death after being forcibly conscripted by the LTTE. She has
passed the GCE (O-L) and obtained three Cs at the the A-Ls.
Her father drives a tractor purchased from the
Rs 7,500 donated by the IOM Organisation and earns an
additional income. Her wish is to never again witness a war

Economic Development Minister Basil
Rajapaksa declared open the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Kelaniya
electorate office yesterday. The office was established by
Kelaniya Chief Organizer and Public Relations and Public
Activities Minister Mervin Silva.Deputy Ministers Pandu
Bandaranayke, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Sarath Kumara
Gunarathna, Dulip Wijesekara, Gampaha District MP’s
Sudarshani Fernandopulle, Wasantha Senanayaka and several
politicians from the Gampaha District were present at this

Senior International Monetary
Cooperation Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama met with Chinese
Finance Minister Xie Xuren in Washington DC during the IMF/World
Bank Spring Meetings 2012 and discussed development projects
