Rs 4,000 m for Beruwala development

The government has allocated around Rs.4,000 million for development projects in the Beruwala Electorate.


Ministers Rajitha Senarathne and Dinesh Gunawardena inaugurating the second phase of the water supply projects in the Beruwala electorate.

About 98 percent out of the the projects have been already completed and all development projects are to be completed by 2014, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said.

Large amount of money has been allocated for providing electricity and three electricity projects had already been completed. About Rs. 1,370 million has been allocated for water supply projects.

"The water supply projects are to be completed in three stages and one project has already been completed, he added.

The minister was addressing the opening ceremony of newly constructed electricity projects and inauguration ceremony of the second phase of the water supply projects in several areas in the Beruwala electorate, recently.

Arrangements are in place to develop seven schools in the electorate as national level schools and the government has already allocated Rs. 700 million for development activities in three hospitals. All these funds are donations. The public has the responsibility to protect these resources for the next generation, Minister Senarathne stated. Around Rs. 550 million has been allocated for road development projects and a large number of roads have been carpeted last year.

"All these projects will be completed in 2014 and road development projects are to be finished at the end of this year, he further added. Water supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Beruwala Municipal Council chairman Milfar Kafoor and Pradeshiya Sabha chairman Prasanna Sanjeewa also participated.
