Fishing trawler rescued

Sri Lanka Navy had rendered assistance to rescue a multi-day fishing
trawler which had been grounded close to a rocky point off Trincomalee
Harbour, on April 19. The trawler Senaka - 7 from Dewundara with four
crew members on board, had met with the mishap around 7.00 pm whilst
attempting to enter the harbour to unload 3,000 kilograms of fish.
The owner of the fishing trawler Senaka -7 had alerted the Eastern
Naval Command of the incident requesting assistance.
A naval rescue team comprising of damage control personnel and divers
was sent to the location accordingly and the trawler was retrieved and
towed to the Cold Bay. |
