Conduct a census, says Douglas
Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister
Douglas Devananda instructed Government Agents and officials of
Kilinochchi and Jaffna districts to conduct a census of public and
private buildings abandoned in Kilinochchi and Jaffna districts due to
the war and other reasons.
He said so during a meeting at the Jaffna District Secretariat last
week, a ministry release said.
The areas where resettlement has so far not been effected and relief
measures not meted out to the newly resettled were discussed at the
meeting.
The minister instructed officials to furnish him details soon.
Jaffna district Member of Parliament and Deputy Chairman to
Committees of Parliament Murugesu Chandrakumar, Jaffna Government Agent
Imelda Sukumar and Kilinochchi district Government Agent Rupawathy
Ketheeswaran also participated in the meeting.
Minister Devananda also held discussions at Vasavilan Maha Vidyalaya
regarding the resettlement of IDPs in Valikamam North. The requirements
of those already resettled and those yet to be resettled in Valikamam
North were discussed at the meeting.
Several officials including Tellipallai Divisional Secretary Sri
Mohanan also participated. |
