Minister orders speedy completion

To realize the concept “Drinking Water for All” under the Mahinda
Chintana future vision programme, Water Supply and Drainage Minister
Dinesh Gunawardana has directed every officer to complete small scale
water supply projects and all medium scale water supply projects
countrywide with immediate effect.

He has ordered them to identify all practical problems and implement
solutions while constructing water supply projects all over the country.
Completing all projects on time will ensure the national wealth is
protected. Workers also need to be creative to complete all works
successfully, Minister Gunawardana said.
The minister made these remarks at the progress review meeting held
at the Water Supply and Drainage Ministry in Battaramulla recently.
He said 1,200,000 persons will be provided drinking water facilities
from small and medium scale water supply projects throughout the
country. While another 1,279,500 individuals will be benefitted. So far
around 50 small and medium scale water supply projects are being
constructed, he said.
The total cost of these projects will be Rs 14,232 million. The
Ministry expects to inaugurate all those projects soon. To make it a
success the Ministry will issue instructions to the authorities to work
according to a timetable, he said. |
