Nilakshan Sohan Fernando, a young athlete from Maris Stella College
Negombo, is an up and coming player who hopes to reach greater heights
in the field of Martial Arts with Kenseikan Karate. By now, he has
achieved many victories, that a boy in the same age couldn't achieve.
Starting his sport at 2007, he has a long way to go. But the
victories achieved by him so far cannot be under estimated. Nilakshan
won the first place of the International Karate-Do Championship which
was organized to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Karate-Do
Association(Sri Lanka Branch) held at March 2011 at the Sugathadasa
Indoor Stadium Colombo. Other than that, Nilakshan has won the
championship in the Boys 11-12 years under the Kata and Kumite
catagories in the Annual Karate-Do Championship 2010, first place of the
Boys 11-12 years Kumite Championship in the Sixth Shukokai International
Open Karatedo Championship held on 2010, first place of the Boys 11-12
years of the Kumite category in the second UKF International Karate
Championship in 2010 and the second place of the Kata category in the
same Championship. Apart from that , he secured the first place in the
Kata category of the Seventh Annual Seiko Kai Open Karate Do
Championship in 2010, first place of the Kumite event of Fifth
Anniversary and International Karate-Do Championship in 2011 and the
first place under the Kata category of the same event.
