Essay competition on Rabindranath Tagore
The Indian Cultural Centre Colombo is organizing an essay competition
on Rabindranath Tagore in Sinhala, Tamil and English for the Advanced
Level (A/L) and under graduate students of the Universities in Sri
Lanka.
The competition is part of its activities to celebrate the 150 birth
anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. In each language category there will
be three cash prizes and certificates. The first prize will be Sri
Lankan rupees 15,000/=, the second prize will be Sri Lankan rupees
10,000/= and the Third Prize will be Sri Lankan rupees 5000/= in each
language category.
The topic of the essay competition is ‘Rabindranath Tagore and Sri
Lanka.’ The students can write the essay either in Sinhala or Tamil or
in English. The essay should not be less than 800 words and not more
than 1200 words. The principal or the Dean of the University in which
the student is studying should certify that he or she is a bonafide
student of school or university and the particulars given by him or her
along with their essay are correct. The last date for receiving the
essay with the full contact details of the participant (Full name,
address, telephone number and email ID) at the Indian Cultural Centre,
16/2, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7 is April 30.
