Japanese coaches for Karate, Judo and Baseball

Sri Lanka will have the service of Japanese coaches for Karate, Judo and Baseball. The Sports Ministry has taken an initiative to uplift 23 sports through the service of foreign experts targeting more medals at the 2013 South Asian Games which will be held in New Delhi, India.

Japanese Ambassador in Colombo Mobuhito Hobo expressed the Japanese government's interest to provide coaches for the three sports when he met Sports Minister Mahindanana Aluthgamage at the sports ministry. Discussions were further extended to seek assistance from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the sports development programme, launched by the Sports Ministry to upgrade and develop the rural infrastructure facilities to uplift the standard of sports in the remote areas.
