Funds to develop GN divisions

The government will allocate Rs one million for each Grama Niladari
Division to expedite development activities under the Gama Neguma
programme, Prime Minister D.M.Jayaratne said.
These funds will be provided for Pradeshiya Sabha members, the Prime
Minister said addressing a meeting at the Sri Lanka Freedom Party
Gampola office yesterday.
The acceptance of project reports of the Pradeshiya Sabha members for
development activities has started. The funds will be released through
divisional secretariats, he said.
"Priority will be given to people's choice in implementing
development projects. President Mahinda Rajapaksa is a leader who loves
village and he is determined to develop the village. "This is a
government of the poor. Development projects are aimed at the general
public," he said.
"The benefits of economic and agricultural projects will be
experienced by the public soon.
"The government has planned to develop the country from the grass
roots level.
Pradeshiya Sabha members have an enormous responsibility in making
the effort a success, the Prime Minister said.
