To mark the first year of felicitating the company’s dealers and valued customers since its formation in 1998, Kobe Motor Company held a function to mark this momentous event and to show its appreciation to the dealers and valued customers who were instrumental in the success of the company. It was held at the Crystal Ballroom of the Taj Samudra recently.

Chief Guest Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne and Mrs. Jayaratne, special invitees Senior Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Senior Minister A. H. M. Fowzie together with the Directors of Ali Brothers and Kobe Motor Company Japan at the reception.

The chief guest was Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne, while Senior Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Senior Minister A.H.M. Fowzie, Directors Messrs Azad Ali, Hyder Ali, Mohamed Ali and Umar Ali also participated.

The purpose of the event was to introduce to the gathering comprising of dealers, valued customers and special invitees, the portfolio of the organization and the positive impact of the formation of a local company in Japan.

The company was initiated in 1994 and inaugurated in 1998 in Yokohama by Naeem Mohamed Ali, an astute businessman with a vision. Initially, the company exported only 20 to 30 vehicles monthly. Since then, exports have expanded its markets, exporting vehicles to over 35 countries in five different continents and presently exports over 1,000 vehicles per month worldwide.

“The initial groundwork for the formation of Kobe Motor Company has paid off and the company has come a long way since its formation by my late grandfather M.L.M. Naeem Hajiar who was the founder of ‘Naeem Rubber Shippers’, which was at that time one of the leading natural rubber exporters in Sri Lanka, with a planned future is what has led us to this position today,” stated the Vice President of Kobe Motor Company Umar Ali.

Since June 2011, the company entered the Sri Lankan market on a wider scale after the Government slashed taxes on the import of motor vehicles.

During the span of 18 months, over 5,000 vehicles have been sold to Sri Lanka, due largely to the dealers and valued and loyal customers who have contributed to this feat.
