Car grabbers have a field day in stolen vehicle

Thieves fleeing in a stolen car abandoned it at Horana, Kumbuka area yesterday when they realized they were being followed by Police.

The men had stolen the car by threatening the driver. The men had committed several robberies after stealing the car.

The driver was tied in the car’s dicky.

The Police said that they had robbed several banks in Horana, Kuda Uduwa and Millaniya areas. They had also snatched gold chains and robbed several shops in Horana.

“Three persons were involved in the robberies. The men had changed the car’s number plate. The men had realized that they were being followed after robbing a bank at Kuda Uduwa. They had then abandoned the car,” the Police said.

The car owner is a resident of Warakagoda.

Police inquiries revealed that the suspects had a T-56 and several other weapons.

All Police stations have been alerted.
