First and foremost, on behalf of the people of

Shake hands with an Angel - meeting with Lt. Gen Romeo Dallaire
Recently I had the honour and privilege of
meeting one of the outstanding humanitarians and outspoken advocates
for human rights of our time - Lieutenant General Romeo A. Dallaire,
(Ret'd) Senator, at York University. His reputation reaches to many
distant lands. Many Sri Lankans know him as the commander of the UN
Mission in Rwanda during the Rwandan genocide.

The unrest of the privileged!
Every year about 250,000 students sit for the
university entrance exam in Sri Lanka and due to the extremely
competitive nature of this university entrance (as the positions
available in the non fee levying universities are limited), the
students and their parents undergo immense hardships in terms of
finance and time to prepare themselves for this hurdle. From these
250,000 candidates, every year about 100,000 earn the grade of
eligibility to enter the local universities,
